Diabetes word first given by the Greek physician Arateus in the 2nd century describe patients which have great thirst and excessive variation and also discover the urine of patient is sweet.Now it is one of the common disease in world is Diabetes it was estimated that the total No. of Diabetes Patients in the World is Expected to Grow up to 380 Million by 2025 it was 240 Million in 2006. Its a metabolic disorder when humany body doesnot control on insulin .Diabetes is also known as 'High Sugar'.Much of what we eat is converted to glucose which is also called sugar.In human body a hormone is required that is present in insulin to convert this sugar,starches and other food in to energy.So in lack of insulin sugar can not be utilized by the body and then diabetes occurs 126mg% or more is defined as diabetes and anything between 101 and 125 mg% is comes in prediabetes.Because humany body have to maintain a level of blood glucose in a specific range with the help of insulin and glucagon.Diabetes damage to the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart and blood vessels.If treatment is properly taken it can be well controlled but if not managed daily, medical emergencies can arise to the patients.
Type of Diabetes:-
(1)Type 1 diabetes
(2)Type 2 diabetes
(3)Gestational diabetes
(1)Type 1 diabetes:-Its a autoimmune disease which effects on immune system of body and the immune system attacks the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas and destroys them and this pancreas produce little or no insulin.The person suffering from Type 1 diabetes must have to take insulin daily to live.Still now scientists have not discover why immune system attack the beta cells.
(2)Type 2 diabetes:-More then 90 to 95% of people are suffering from Type 2 diabetes of all diabetes people.In Type 2 diabetes pancreas produce enough insulin but for some unknown resons body is not able use insulin and this condition is called insulin resistance after some year insulin production is decreases and then result is same as of Type 1.
(3)Gestational diabetes:-Gestational diabetes occur only when you are pregnent. Women who have had gestational diabetes have a 20 to 50 percent chance of developing type 2 diabetes within 5 to 10 years.
Common Symtoms of Diabetes:-
The symptoms would differ depending on the type of DIABETES.But there is a strain of similarity between the different symptoms.
(1) One of the most common symtoms is excessive urination depends upon the patient condition.Colour of urine may be change.
(2)Excessive urine may cause excessive thirst and patient consume more fluids then normal.
(3)Patient may feel gernal weakness and get tired easily dizziness may also occur.
(4)Itchy feeling may occur in the hands and foot of patients.
(5)Body pain also happen on the back and in limbs.
Symtoms of Type 1 Diabetes :-
(1) Extreme fatigue
(2) Frequent need to urinate
(3) Continual thirst despite taking fluids
(4) Severe hunger urges
(5) Unexplained weight loss
Symtoms of Type 2 Diabetes:-
(1)increased production of urine (the body is trying to get rid of the excess glucose in the urine)
(2)unusual thirst
(3)tiredness (because the glucose is "going to waste" and not being converted into energy)
(4)loss of weight
(5)increased appetite
(6)feeling sick
(7)blurred vision
(8)infections such as thrush or irritation of the genitals
Symtoms of Gestational Diabetes:-
(1)Blurred vision
(2)Fatigue
(3)Frequent infections, including those of the bladder, vagina, and skin
(4)Increased thirst
(5)Increased urination
(6)Nausea and vomiting
(7)Weight loss in spite of increased appetite
Protection from Diabetes:-
There are some useful tips to protect you from Diabetes.
For Type 1 Diabetes:-
(1)Check you foot daily for cuts, blisters or swelling. If fund then contact your doctor.
(2)DO a regular checkup from doctor if you have faced a problem in past.
(3)Wash your foot daily and apply a lotion on them and also trimmed your toenails.
(4)Try to wear comfortable proper fitting shoes with socks and avoid to remain barefoot.
(5)Protect foot from cold and hot water.
(6)Circulation of blood is very important in legs so not cross legs for long.
For Type 2 Diabetes:-
(1)Do a regular exercise and try to maintain a glucose level lower than 126 mg/dl on a regular basis. And also maintain a balance diet acording to physician.
(2)Exercise 30-60 minutes a day reduce risk of diabetes.
(3)Try to avoid these brown sugar, corn sweetner, corn syrup, dextrose, fructose, high fructose corn syrup, invert sugar, maltose, malt syrup, molasses.
(4)Take cereals that are high fiber.
(5)Avoid fast food because these increase risk of diabetes.
(6)Avoid too much use of red meat. Too much use of red meat and some processed meat like bacon and hot dogs increase the risk of type 2 diabetes.
(7)Avoid stress and start day with yoga or meditation and also do a deep breaths.
(8)Avoid too much smoking,drinking and stress.
For Gestational diabetes:-
(1)Do exercise acording to your physician
